Here are some photos from the panel I spoke on last weekend at SVA. The panel was called “Follow Your Art: How to Thrive as an Independent Creative” and was part of NY Creative Interns‘ conference Find & Follow Your Passion. I spoke on the panel alongside Charlie Grosso of Baang and Burne Contemporary, Farrell Brinkhouse from SVA, and the panel was moderated by Lee Ann Norman from ArtSlant.com. In the audience were students and young grads going into creative fields, so it was great talking to them about how I got into photography, how I began my career, and what it’s like being a freelance photographer. It was really interesting to hear Charlie, Farrell, and Lee Ann’s perspectives on their own fields.
Throughout the day, I met so many amazing young people who are beginning their careers as photographers, writers, artists, and more. It really energized me to be around them, and reminded me of how I was when I was in college. There were a few girls that really stood out to me, and I’m so looking forward to following their future successes. Huge congratulations to Emily Meithner, Reb Carlson, Marny Smith, Marissa Grossman, and everyone else who worked so hard to put such an inspiring day together. I really enjoyed meeting and listening to the keynote speech by Maggie Mistal (“One of the nation’s best career coaches” -CNN), whose words were so inspiring. And the best part of the day? I brought my Mom as my +1! It was so cool to have her by my side the whole day, and see her face in the audience when I was speaking on the panel
