I’m just a few weeks away from finally moving into my own photo studio! As a Boston commercial photographer, I’m thrilled to finally have my own space to photograph personal branding photography, product photography, and commercial photography, in addition to my editorial work for magazines and universities.
I have been blessed to photograph so many world-changing, iconic people in my career, and I wanted to put together a behind-the-scenes book from my photo shoots over the last 14 years in New York and Boston! I sorted through my photo archives and collected photos from my photo shoots with Kim Kardashian, Alicia Keys, Usher, Ludacris, One Direction, New Kids on the Block, Hanson, and more.
Photo book specs: I designed this book with Adobe InDesign, and printed the book at AdoramaPix. All of their books use lay-flat pages, which are my favorite! And I chose the glossy prints. As a former magazine designer, I am always looking for layout design inspiration, and after seeing a few photography portfolios online that were designed for a vertical layout, I decided to give it a try! I love photo book design, and am always searching for new and beautiful ways to display photos.
I absolutely loved going through my archives and reminding myself of all of the incredible adventures I’ve had over the last 14 years as a music photographer, an editorial photography and an advertising photographer! The photo above was from my third photo shoot with Hanson, who are always such a fun group to photograph!
I spent most of my career in New York City, and moved to Boston in 2015—as a Boston photographer, it’s not often that I get to photograph the artists and musicians that I used to photograph on a weekly basis in New York. So it was such a pleasure to photograph Hanson again in 2017, on their Boston stop of their tour!
This is one of my favorite behind-the-scenes photos ever! I was about 4 or 5 months pregnant with my son, photographing a “Day in the Life” with Ed Sheeran for Rolling Stone. We took this photo in the mirror of the green room at NBC in New York!
Camera gear: I use Canon cameras and lenses, and Profoto lighting. Some of my older archive photos were taken using Paul C. Buff lighting, but I have seen switched over fully to Profoto.
The photos above have such special meaning to me. As the producer of Photo Shoot for a Cure, I have worked to raise over $100,000 for Parkinson’s research, benefiting The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and Team Fox. As part of our 2018 event, I had the honor of meeting Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker. We were so grateful for his support!
These photos also hold a special place in my heart! In 2018, I had the honor of photographing Red Sox manager Alex Cora and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley for the “2018 Bostonians of the Year” issue for The Boston Globe Magazine! I set up my photo studio on location at Fenway Park, and we had an amazing day.
This photo was from quite an adventure! I had the honor of traveling to Dallas, TX to photograph Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas during the week before their Superbowl Performance in 2011.
So many memories from these photos! It was an honor to photograph Patti Labelle in Boston in 2017, and to photograph Chelsea Clinton for The Clinton Foundation at CGIU at Northeastern University in 2017 as well!
Thanks for taking a look through my new behind the scenes photography book! I can’t wait to move into my new studio, and leave this book on my coffee table to reminisce through all of my adventures!
